Studio 301 - One of the worlds best studios -Symphony I/O MKII PTHD

The relaunch of Australia’s oldest and largest commercial recording studios, Studios 301 took place on Thursday 22nd Feb 2018. Industry guests were welcomed by 301 owner and CEO Dr Tom Misner and special guest, six-time Grammy award winning UK producer Steve Lillywhite (U2, The Rolling Stones, Peter Gabriel). Whilst being served a deluxe array of canapes and beverages from the team at Icebergs and sponsor Young Henry’s brewery, guests enjoyed the cocktail function before the official unveiling of the new 301 complex.

Designed by Dr Tom Misner, and master acoustician, Jochen Veith, the studio is the only tier one recording studio in Australia and un-arguably one of the world’s finest acoustically designed facilities. Recognising the ongoing need for a facility of this calibre in Australia – and the value of its legacy – Dr Tom Misner committed to a multi-million dollar ground-up reconstruction and relocation project that took 16 months and an incredible 134,000 hours of labour to complete. The result is a no compromise, studio that now ranks as one of the top five studios in the world.

His recent film-scores include Craig Monahan’s "Healing", nominated for APRA and FCCA Awards; Jonathan Teplitzky’s "The Railway Man", which won AACTA and APRA 2014 film score awards; and most recently, Russell Crowe's "The Water Diviner", which was nominated for an AACTA in 2014, and won the 2014 FCCA Regal Cinema Award for Best Music Score.

The following is an extract from a review in Variety:

“The Railway Man” retraces the tracks of an exceptional man’s life, as former British soldier Eric Lomax confronts the Japanese officer who tortured him as a prisoner of war nearly four decades earlier ………… The secret weapon here is Australian composer David Hirschfelder, who previously collaborated with Teplitzky on “Better Than Sex” and before that on such indelible Oz scores as “Strictly Ballroom” and “Shine,” whose timeless theme conveys all of the hurt and forgiveness which the film otherwise underplays on screen.

Eddie Parise - Audio Bunker & ex Baby Animals Bass player -2 x Rosetta 800 + XHD

Music recording has come a long way in the 30 years since Audio Bunker founder, Eddie Parise, started playing with his beloved TEAC 3340s 4 track recorder. Eddie helped form the multi ARIA award winning rock band The Baby Animals, the result of a journey which began cutting demos at home using whatever he could get his hands on in order to complete a track – portastudio, 1” 3M tape machine, TEAC 4 track, you name it.
When Eddie met Kevin “Caveman” Shirley, famous record producer for bands like Iron Maiden and Led Zeppelin, he asked him to help record a demo for The Baby Animals… it was the start of a fantastic working relationship, which saw them score a recording deal in the USA, working with Mike Chapman sitting in the producers chair (famous for his work with Suzi Quatro, Blondie and Pat Benetar among others).
The band’s 1991 debut album ‘Baby Animals’ spent six weeks at No.1, and became the highest selling debut album of that time, winning 5 ARIA nominations and 3 awards – their first taste of success. They went onto tour Europe and the USA with artists such as Bryan Adams, Van Halen, Paul Rodgers and Robert Plant
